POSITION PURPOSE

The Director of Law Enrollment reports to the Senior Assistant Dean for Law Enrollment Strategy and Operations. Using expert-level knowledge and experience, the Director of Law Enrollment collaborates with the Law School's highest administrators on admission procedures and develops admissions strategies that furthers the overall goals of the School of Law. The Director of Law Enrollment takes the strategies back to enrollment office to coordinate implementation with the Director of Law Financial Aid. Under the general direction and in collaboration with Senior Assistant Dean, the Director of Law Enrollment (Director) is responsible for development and implementation of processes and strategies to achieve the Law School's goal of enrolling a diverse and academically talented J.D. student body. The Director will supervise but also collaborate with the Director of Law Admissions (Admissions) for implementation of admissions procedures. Working with the Senior Assistant Dean for Law Enrollment Strategy and Operations, Admissions, and the Faculty Admissions Committee, the Director collaborates on and chiefly executes fair and efficient evaluation strategies keeping within the mission of Santa Clara Law and established enrollment goals. The Director leads all admission functions in a way that demonstrates radical customer service and care for all stakeholders. The Director collaborates with the Senior Assistant Dean for Law Enrollment Strategy and Operations and the Assistant Dean for External Affairs on recruitment and communication strategies. The Director is a subject-matter expert. This position serves as the primary supervisor for support staff within the law admissions. The Director will develop the recruitment calendar, represent the School of Law at recruiting events, will review applications for admission, and will adhere to timelines established in collaboration with the Senior Assistant Dean for Law Enrollment Strategy and Operations. The Director demonstrates excellent data management skills, and is up-to-date on compliance, regulation, and reporting requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Applies expert-level knowledge of enrollment strategies and best practices while operating within appropriate ABA, LSAC, Federal, and School of Law rules and regulations to admit and carry through to matriculation entire law student population of 600-700 students. Executes application and evaluation processes in coordination with Faculty Admissions Committee.

Develops and executes strategic planning initiatives. Collaborates with highest-level law school administrators, including the Sr. Assistant Dean for Enrollment Strategy and Operations, and the Dean of the School of Law on enrollment strategy and brings expert-level expertise to that collaboration.

Run reports, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports and presentations

Compiles and provides information needed to complete the ABA Annual Questionnaire, the annual US News and World Report submission, and other surveys and questionnaires as directed by the Sr. Assistant Dean for Enrollment Strategy and Operations and the Dean's Office of the School of Law. Compiles and provides data and information as requested by the Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and the Dean's Office of the School of Law. Provides database management and statistical reporting to all stakeholders requiring admissions data.

Compose and update communications

Reviews and updates content of admissions communication channels, including messaging embedded in student information system and scholarship management system, email communications, website content, social media channels, and printed publications. Makes suggestions to refine and improve communications to students to help improve delivery of service, and student responsiveness to requests for information or participation.

Manages and Develops Staff. Conducts primary management of law admissions support staff and is responsible for the professional development and regular training of that staff.

Develops and executes recruitment and yield activities.

Manages recruiting events calendar and represents law school at recruitment events. Expert level knowledge required for strategy development in recruitment calendar.

Counsels on admissions process for perspective students, pipeline programs, and current students facing questions about enrollment. Will also collaborate with Financial Aid Office to answer basic questions related to financial aid.

Collaborates with Leadership Team on scholarship procedures and goals and expertly executes scholarship policies in alignment with strategy.

Completes consortium agreements with other law schools, maintains relationships within those in the consortium to the benefit of the School of Law, and runs reports where appropriate within the consortium. Provides information and updates, as need or required, to home or host schools.

Routinely exercises expert-level judgment on individual applications as well as overall strategy.

Executes policy documentation plan. Collaborates with the Director of Law Finance to develop and execute plan to begin policy documentation at all levels of admissions, enrollment, and financial aid. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders where appropriate.

Provides admissions counseling for J.D. students and collaborates with financial aid team on financial aid counseling when applicable.

Provides admissions counseling and guidance in regards to alternative or special programming such as the Flex program, L.L.M. program, Tech Edge J.D., and Public Interest J.D. programs.

Executes LLM and special programming enrollment plans in coordination with appropriate internal stakeholders of those programs. Routinely collaborates with special programming teams on all areas of enrollment including strategy, communication, and goals.

Develops and executes prospect management strategies complimenting current processes and working with university stakeholders within the Provost's Office.

Ensures compliance with LSAC, ABA, Federal, university, and School of Law policies and regulations

Leads team in radical customer service goals and communication strategies.

Engages in regular professional development training, and ensures team has proper training and development with both internal and extremal organizations including LSAC, university partners, ABA, etc.

Engages in the leadership team of the newly developed Enrollment and Operations department, operating as the chief voice of enrollment, bringing expert-level knowledge to that team.

Chief collaborator with Director of Law Financial Aid

Hire, train, and supervise student employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge: Expert knowledge of graduate school admissions practices and procedures required, working knowledge of law school admissions procedures preferred. Familiarity with regulations and reporting requirements related to law school admissions and familiarity with immigration regulations applicable to international students. Working knowledge of Unite, Slate, and Workday preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite products required.

Education: Bachelor's degree required. J.D. or other advanced degree preferred.

Years of Experience: Min. 6 years of experience in progressively responsible positions in higher education admissions or comparable work environment. Experience in law school admissions preferred.
