Job Summary:
USF School of Law is a forward-leaning law school committed to producing the next generation of exceptionally trained, ethical lawyers committed to serving the people and institutions of California, the nation, and the world. Working closely with the Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development is responsible for developing and managing relationships with the law school's donors. A key focus of this role will be expanding the major gift pipeline for the School of Law. This talented and dynamic professional will conceive of and carry out a variety of cultivation, engagement, and solicitation opportunities. This position collaborates closely with other development and alumni relations staff and other departments throughout the law school and across the University. This is a hybrid role with work in-person at least three days per week at the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Key Responsibilities

Major Gifts Fundraising

Develop and manage a dynamic portfolio of 90-110 prospects, including alumni, parents, and friends, to secure endowed, capital, and planned gifts for the School of Law. Emphasis on multi-year gift agreements supporting ongoing campaign priorities.
Conduct at least 8 face-to-face donor visits per month, including joint meetings with law school leadership, faculty, and other development staff.
Identify and cultivate new funding sources, increasing annual giving from current donors and prospects.
Collaborate closely with development staff to coordinate donor identification, cultivation, stewardship, and proposal development.
In partnership with the Director of Development, establish and continually evaluate a five-year strategy to substantially grow contributions at all levels, enhancing the number and amount of major gifts received annually.

Leadership and Collaboration

Foster collaboration with advancement colleagues both within the School of Law and across the University, including working closely with the Director of Gift Planning and Annual Giving staff, to explore diverse funding strategies.
Coordinate with the University and Law School's donor engagement and stewardship teams to ensure robust engagement and stewardship of all prospects within the Associate Director's portfolio.
Support the development and execution of the Law School's annual giving and giving day strategies.
Partner with the Dean of Students to align and enhance student organization fundraising efforts.

Additional Responsibilities

Stay informed about current programs, faculty research, and student initiatives within the School of Law and across the University.
Actively participate in and represent USF Law at events, building connections and enhancing visibility within the community.
Manage special projects related to the campaign as assigned by the Director of Development.
Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

A minimum of a bachelor's degree, with a preference for candidates who have advanced degrees.
A minimum of 3 years of progressive and successful fundraising experience is required, with a preference for those with experience fundraising in higher education.
Familiarity with donor databases or CRM databases is required.

Ability to understand the needs and interests of major donors to develop relationships between them and the University, and a demonstrated track record of success in identifying, qualifying, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated writing and editing skills in the preparation of proposals and drafting of related correspondence.
Skilled at making strategic, organization-focused decisions that drive positive impact.
Ability to establish and achieve quantified objectives.
Excellent time management and follow-up skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to supervise student employees and to manage volunteers.
Ability to work well under deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Commitment to the appropriate use of sensitive and confidential constituent data.
Demonstrated computer proficiency, including experience using Google Applications, Microsoft Office, Docusign, and other paperless management tools. Experience with expense reporting systems is a plus.
Ability to work some nights and weekends for visits and events.
Ability to travel regionally and domestically for visits and events.
Must have a valid driver's license.

$90,000 - $100,000 annualized; commensurate with experience
